Born in San Francisco, of a family with deep roots in the design and clothing manufacturing business, Lam’s interest in fashion can be traced to his childhood. Lam went on to study at the Parsons School of Design, and then went to work with Michael Kors where he eventually rose to VP of Design. In 2003, Lam launched his own label and debuted at NY Fashion Week. In 2005, Lam won the CFDA Perry Ellis Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent. Lam’s vision for his designs is fashion that is luxurious and yet wearable. He is known for crisp silhouettes and exceptional fabrics as well as his signature trench.
