Carolina Herrera, born in Caracas, Venezuela, attended her first couture show at the age of 13 with her grandmother. After becoming a style-setter and iconic figure on the international social scene, in 1980 was prompted by fashion legend Diana Vreeland to create a fashion. This “test” was a success and she embarked on what would become a 25-year career. Her exquisitely detailed, expertly crafted creations were immediately in demand. Chic, sophisticated women all the world-over turned to Herrera for the impeccable suits, dresses and gowns she instinctively knows how to design. The global brand now encompasses her signature fashion collection, bridal, fragrances, accessories and a separate lifestyle collection, CH Carolina Herrera. The CFDA named Herrera Womenswear Designer of the Year in 2004 and honored her with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.
