After co-designing Anne Klein for ten years, Donna Karan launched her eponymous collection in 1985. Her name became synonymous with the New York look and a modern system of dressing. Karan’s quest for the perfect pair of jeans, as well as her desire to dress her daughter Gabby, led to the 1989 birth of DKNY, offering fast fashion with an urban mindset.
