KENZO SS13

The namesake of this line is Kenzo Takada, a Japanese fashion designer whose interest in fashion design started at a very early age. In 1958, he made the bold move to attend Tokyo's Bunka Fashion College, which had just opened their doors to male students. Hi original patchwork designs evolved from his need to purchase cheap remnant fabrics from flea markets. He received worldwide recognition in the 70's with dramatic shows and the Fashion Editor Club of Japan's prize. He retired from designing in 1999 and his assistants took over the reins of his fashion house. In 2011, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, the duo behind Opening Ceremony, became the new design team behind the resurrection of the Kenzo line in the US and the successful business built in the Russian and Asian markets.
