Loewe's history goes back to 1846 when a group of craftsman opened a leather goods workshop in Madrid and were later joined by Enrique Roessberg Loewe from Germany. The team established at this time gave rise to the success of the Loewe company, culminating in being recognized by the Royal Family of Spain as "The Official Supplier to the Royal Crown." In 1970's Loewe branched out into Fashion and hired some of the world's greatest designers, including Karl Lagerfeld, Giorgio Armani and Laura Biagotti. In 1996, when the company turned 150 years old, it was sold to LVMH and today, Stuart Vevers is the creative director for the womenswear, menswear and the leather goods.
